About Red Dog Racing's bleed Kits for Avid and Formula hydraulic brakes
Red Dog Racing started selling alternative brake bleed kits for Avid hydraulic disc brakes in 2009.
As professional engineers, we designed the brass bleed nipple adapters specifically to fit the Avid's brake bleed ports and we have them made for us in the UK.
Fully Compatible with ALL Avid and current Formula designs.
As of March 2011 we now have a universal bleed port adapter which will fit all Avid hydraulic disc brake models and all Formula disc brake models that use bleed ports (not the Evolutione - this is bled in the traditional manner).

Supplied with DOT 4 or DOT 5.1 to suit your requirements.
Red Dog Racing has added a brake bleed kit with DOT 4 fluid specifically for Formula brakes. Formula brakes are supplied with DOT 4 as standard and their literature recommends DOT 4.
Avid supply their brake bleed kit with DOT 5.1 although some of the lower end models are sometimes supplied filled with DOT 4 fluid.
The bottom line is that both fluids are compatible and DOT 5.1 has certain high temperature advantages - see our frequently asked questions for more information. If you do change from DOT 4 to DOT 5.1, then we would suggest that you flush through the old fluid when you bleed to maximise the advantage.
